A double major in Media And Communications  Cultural Studies, from the University of Melbourne, Keerat Kaur had been managing the reins of her family owned textile business – Swift Corporation Ltd until she decided to launch Harkaari, her own line of luxury living products. With a sole purpose to celebrate the robust heritage of intricate village crafts and providing employment opportunities for women, Keerat founded The Harkaari Foundation along with her mother, Mrs Simran, as a development center as well as a small factory unit, where women can develop their skills with hands-on training in skills such as stitching, weaving, hand embroidery, and block printing. Harkaari is a self sustainable business model that empowers women to raise living standards and counter social troubles such as female feticide and domestic abuse. With a keen interest and taste in the global decor market, Keerat plans to expand Harkaari into several International markets in the near future.
